Why is a PLC Backup so important?
How often should a Backup of the PLC Program be done?
Some PLC Systems like Allen Bradley PLC's carry a Battery to store the actual
PLC Application Software and Data, other Systems like Siemens Simatic S5 and S7
store it on a Memory Card or Eprom.
Even than a backup of the PLC Program should be done to store the actual
Program and Settings, which are not stored safely.
If a Machine breaks down the Program may need to be reloaded into the PLC,
but without an actual PLC Backup File it could take hours to alter the Settings
which have changed, especially if they are not recorded.
!!! Batteries should be replaced once a year!!!
